1. Early Years and background 

Gill showed a deep love for cricket at an early age. After seeing his potential, his father, an agriculturist named Lakhwinder Singh, relocated the family to Mohali in order to give him better training chances. Gill's cricket career began when he was able to enroll in the Punjab Cricket Association's academy thanks to this move.

2. Domastic career 

Gill's List A debut for Punjab in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy marked the beginning of his domestic career. During the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he made his first-class debut, displaying his skill with a half-century in his opening encounter and a century in the following one. He was chosen as the vice-captain of India's Under-19 team for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup due to his steady play, and he won Player of the Tournament after scoring 372 runs at an average of 124.00.

3. International carrier 

Gill's international debut was made possible by his outstanding domestic exploits. On January 31, 2019, he faced New Zealand in his first One Day International (ODI). After that, on December 26, 2020, he made his Test debut against Australia, when he contributed significantly, including a crucial 91-run innings in India's historic triumph at the Gabba. Gill became the fifth Indian batsman to reach hundreds in all international formats in January 2023 when he scored an undefeated 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand, recording his first T20 International century.

4. Ipl carrier 

Before joining the Gujarat Titans in 2022, Gill started his IPL career in 2018 with the Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2022, he was instrumental in helping the Titans win their first IPL championship. By scoring 890 runs, the second-highest total in a single IPL season, including three hundreds, he won the Orange Cap in the 2023 season. He was named the Gujarat Titans' captain before to the 2024 season as a result of his outstanding play.

Gill holds the record for being the player who reached 2,000 ODI runs in 38 innings and 2,500 runs in 50 innings the quickest.
